Title: “Machine Learning Techniques for Radar ATR”
Speaker’s Profile: "Dr. Uttam K. Majumder earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. His dissertation research was focused on “Nearly Orthogonal Waveforms Design for MIMO Radar Applicationsâ€. Dr. Majumder is a R&D Scientist and Radar automation and artificial intelligence (A2I) lead for U.S. Department of Defense. (May 2021- Present). He was a senior electronics engineer at Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) (August 2003-April 2021). His research interests include Radar Waveforms Design, SAR Signal and image processing, Machine Learning for SAR target recognition, High Performance Computing, and SAR algorithms development for surveillance applications. From 2016 to May 2021, he has been working with the Computing and Communications Division, AFRL Information Directorate, Rome, New York. From 2003-2016, he has worked with ATR Division, AFRL Sensors Directorate, Dayton, Ohio. He was a technical lead for several DARPA programs including RFMLS (Radio Frequency Machine Learning Systems), TRACE (Target Recognition and Adaption for Contested Environments), and HIVE (Hierarchical Identify, Verify, and Exploit). He led many in-house machine learning research projects. Dr. Majumder received several awards from AFRL including AFOSR STAR Team Research Award, Distinguished Research Achievement Award, and SPIE Rising Researchers Award. He is a senior member of IEEE and SPIE and a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE AESS.
