Speaker’s Profile:
Bob Rassa is an IEEE Life Fellow and retired Director, Engineering Programs at Raytheon Intelligence & Space Systems, and was responsible for helping implement effective Systems Engineering within Raytheon and the defense/aerospace complex. His 40+ year career involves Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, Logistics, and Program/Financial Management
He founded the National Defense Industry Association Systems Engineering Division; the annual NDIA Systems Engineering Conference, the annual NDIA/SEI CMMI Technology Conference, and the NDIA Net-Centric-Operations Conference. He was Industry sponsor and Steering Group Chair of the CMMI Project for systems, software and hardware design “best practices.” CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) has become the world standard for process improvement for engineering design.
He is past President of the IEEE Systems Council, the IEEE Aerospace & Electronic Systems Society, and the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Society. He is currently Treasurer, IEEE IEEE Aerospace & Electronic Systems Society and Treasurer, IEEE Systems Council. He is also a Distinguished Lecturer for both organizations.
He holds US Patent (#5,931,877, August 1999) on Advanced Maintenance System for Aircraft & Military Weapons, (satellite-based maintenance environment improving maintenance accuracy and efficiency), also adapted as the base system for General Motors’ digital OnStar system.
He was a member of: Southern Methodist University Advisory Board (Systems Engineering); United States Air Force Center for Systems Engineering Advisory Council; and currently Raytheon Systems Engineering Council. He is an adjunct professor of engineering at Rowan University.
Prior employment included Mantech International Corp, Fairfax VA, where he was Group Vice President, and Westinghouse Defense, Electronic Systems Division where he was Manager, Programs.
